Intuit Education supports staff and students of accredited US institutions. If you're not sure if you or your school meets the below requirements please contact us.

  • Faculty or staff: employed by an accredited primary or secondary school, public or private university or college, school district, or board of education
  • Accredited public or private primary or secondary schools providing full-time instruction for grades K-12, or school districts for such schools
  • Accredited public or private universities or colleges (including community, junior, or vocational colleges) that grant degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two years of full-time study
  • Institutions which fit the above criteria must use the software for instructional purposes only

* Students that qualify include those that belong to the aforementioned institutions.

Intuit Education provides free trials of QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and ProConnect tax to eligible individuals and institutions

You can either register here to immediately get access to the software of your choice, or contact us if you'd like to talk with your account manager first.

In addition to QuickBooks and ProConnect software, educational institutions have access to a dedicated account manager to support their journey. We are constantly working to make better resources and training available to students and educators. Please view our resources page for more information on educational resources from Intuit Education and our partners.

Yes! Qualifying students and educators receive free access to QuickBooks Online or ProConnect. Your student version of software contains the full functionality that professionals enjoy. No credit card or payment information is required to get started. At the end of student trials you are welcome to put down a payment method to continue your subscription.

Educator licenses are non-expiring as long as an educator meets the Intuit Education eligibility requirements


  • QuickBooks Online 12 months from the day you first activate the product
  • QuickBooks Desktop 5 months from the day you install the product
  • ProConnect does not expire
  • QuickBooks Online and ProConnect Online your students receive a cloud-based account that can be accessed on any computer or smartphone with an internet connection
  • QuickBooks Desktop: Educators can request QuickBooks Desktop lab-packs that can be installed on computers in your school's computer-lab or library

ProConnect Online: Available on PC or Mac

As an educator you have access to QuickBooks Online Accountant, which has additional feature. If you click on "Dashboard" on the left side of your screen you will see all the same features your students have.

To make sure you have the latest and greatest features QuickBooks Online updates approximately every 6 weeks. You may experience slight changes to your software when new features are rolled out.

QuickBooks Online Accountant allows you to connect and view your student's version of QuickBooks Online by having them join as a "client" click here for information on how to do so.

If you created your company in the last 60 days: Please sign into your account and then copy qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany into your browser. You will be asked to confirm. Don't do this unless you're sure you want to start over!

If you created your company more than 60 days ago: Please call 1-800-488-7330 and request to have purge enabled. It will take 1-2 business days to complete. Again, don't do this unless you're sure you want to start over!

  1. From the Client list, click on the client name hyperlink
  2. In the upper right hand corner click the drop down next to Edit Client and select Make Inactive
    * This will remove the client/student from your client list.

Your Instructor/Professor can help you set up the payroll sections you will be using in class.

  • QuickBooks Online you can access payroll by clicking on "workers" on the left side of the screen. You are eligible for a free 30 day trial, so only activate once you are ready to use it!
  • QuickBooks Desktop you can activate manual payroll here.

You are OK! The 3 just means that you can simulate a small business environment which would allow up to 3 users to access the same data file, saved to the same location at the same time.

On May 31, 2018 Intuit will be discontinuing services related to QuickBooks Desktop 2015. While active versions of Desktop 2015 will continue to function, some services will be disabled. As such, Intuit Education will no longer be able to provide new copies of Intuit Education to educators as of June 1, 2018 and students will not be able to receive new copies of the software after August 1, 2018.

Yes, all issued copies of Desktop 2015 will continue to work. However, services such as online payroll and banking will be discontinued on May 31, 2018.

To accommodate summer school courses, eligible students will still be able to request and receive a 5-month trial of Desktop 2015 until August 1, 2018. The license will be valid for 5-months following the date it is activated.

The student licenses found in new textbooks will continue to be functional. However, supplies may be limited. If you have any further questions, please contact your textbook provider.
